‘What an Incredible Achievement’ – Amit Ji Expresses Joy as India Becomes the World’s 4th Largest Economy

New Delhi, India — India has officially overtaken Japan to become the fourth-largest economy in the world, with a GDP of approximately $4 trillion, according to recent announcements by NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam. The development has sparked widespread celebration across the country, with prominent personalities including legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan hailing it as a proud moment for the nation.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Bachchan expressed his joy and patriotic pride over the economic milestone. In a post that included a picture collage of India’s Agniveers (young military recruits), he wrote, “Agniveer Zindabad. Bharat Mata Ki Jai!! Jai Hind.” In a separate post, he tweeted:“T 5390(1) - Jai Hind! India 4th largest economy in the World.. USA, China, Germany, India ...and 2.5 - 3 yrs will become 3rd largest.”

Bachchan’s message was accompanied by global GDP statistics, underscoring India’s new position among the economic giants of the world:

  • United States: $30.51 trillion

  • China: $19.23 trillion

  • Germany: $4.74 trillion

  • India: Approximately $4 trillion

The 81-year-old superstar further remarked, “What an incredible achievement for a country that became Independent just 75 years ago. How many other nations that got independent 75 yrs back have attained this kind of achievement?”

India’s economic leap reflects years of consistent growth, technological innovation, and market expansion. Government officials and economists attribute this success to India's vibrant services sector, rapid digital transformation, industrial development, and policy reforms aimed at enhancing investment and ease of doing business.

NITI Aayog CEO Subrahmanyam also emphasized the significance of the moment, noting that India has now surpassed Japan and is positioned behind only the U.S., China, and Germany. He stated that if current growth trends continue, India is likely to become the world’s third-largest economy within the next three years.

“This is a moment of pride for every Indian,” Subrahmanyam said. “India’s resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, and demographic advantage are driving this remarkable progress.”

The announcement comes at a time when India is also emerging as a global leader in digital public infrastructure, fintech innovation, and green energy transitions. The government has set ambitious goals to further reduce poverty, boost exports, and strengthen infrastructure, all while aiming to become a developed nation by 2047.

Amitabh Bachchan’s public reaction added an emotional and cultural dimension to the economic achievement. As a beloved national icon, his words resonated with millions who see the milestone as not just a number, but a symbol of India’s determination and unity.

As India continues on its upward trajectory, the world is taking note of its growing influence—not only as a major economic player but also as a leader in innovation, culture, and diplomacy.
