Veteran actress Deepshikha Nagpal has opened up about the long-standing speculation surrounding Salman Khan and Govinda’s dynamic during the filming of the 2007 comedy hit Partner. Addressing the rumors head-on, she made it clear that there was absolutely no insecurity between the two stars—only mutual respect and admiration.
Deepshikha, who played a supporting role in the David Dhawan-directed blockbuster, shared that the atmosphere on the sets was light-hearted and extremely friendly. She noted that despite being major stars in their own right, Salman and Govinda shared a great bond, which reflected in both their professional collaboration and personal interactions. Contrary to gossip suggesting friction, she revealed that Salman was especially respectful toward Govinda, who was making a big-screen comeback during that time.
According to Deepshikha, Salman Khan always treated Govinda with kindness and humility. She described Salman as “so sweet” to Govinda and mentioned that both actors frequently shared laughter, jokes, and camaraderie off-camera. In fact, they even worked out together on the sets, showcasing a healthy and supportive relationship that was far from being competitive.
One of the highlights she recalled was their spontaneity while filming scenes. Deepshikha shared an instance where she improvised a line about “garam-garam chai” and both Salman and Govinda joined in instantly with witty comebacks. These unscripted moments brought out their natural chemistry and made their on-screen bond even more relatable and entertaining. She emphasized that the ease with which the two bounced off each other during scenes was a result of their comfort level and mutual appreciation.
Another interesting point Deepshikha made was about Govinda’s involvement in the creative process. She noted that Govinda would often come up with ideas for scenes or dialogues, and Salman would not only listen attentively but also supportively incorporate those suggestions into their performances. This creative collaboration showed that both stars were focused on making the film better, rather than competing for the spotlight.
Released in July 2007, Partner became a massive commercial success and was one of the top-grossing films of the year. The film, inspired by the Hollywood movie Hitch, featured Salman as a love guru helping Govinda win over his dream girl. The chemistry between the lead actors was a major highlight and one of the key reasons for the film’s popularity.
Deepshikha’s revelations put to rest any lingering doubts about the off-screen relationship between the two Bollywood heavyweights. Instead of rivalry, the set of Partner was filled with laughter, trust, and the joy of creative collaboration. Her statements confirm that true professionalism and mutual respect can lead to not only box office success but also lasting friendships in an industry often riddled with egos and misunderstandings.
