Social Media Influencer Kirti Patel Arrested in ₹2 Crore Honey-Trapping Case

Social media influencer Kirti Patel, popularly known as Kirti Adalja, has been arrested in connection with a sensational ₹2 crore honey-trapping and extortion case in Gujarat. The arrest, made by the Kapodra police in Surat with assistance from authorities in Ahmedabad, comes after nearly a year of Patel being on the run. The case involves allegations that she, along with four accomplices, honey-trapped a prominent real estate developer and extorted a large sum of money from him using compromising photos and videos.

Kirti Patel rose to fame on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where she amassed a following of over 1.3 million. Her social media presence showcased videos from religious festivals, public events, and street interactions, which earned her both popularity and visibility. However, behind the scenes, she had a troubled history with the law, including involvement in an attempted murder case in 2020 and violations under the Wildlife Protection Act.

The FIR in this case was lodged on June 2, 2024, by a Surat-based builder, Vaju Katrodiya. According to police, Patel lured the builder to a farmhouse in Navsari under the pretense of settling a property dispute. There, she allegedly served him alcohol and then took inappropriate photographs, which were later used to blackmail him. The group demanded ₹3 crore from him but ultimately extorted ₹2 crore.

What makes this case even more startling is the manner in which Patel managed to avoid arrest for nearly 10 to 12 months. She frequently changed her SIM cards, mobile phones, and locations, making it difficult for law enforcement to trace her. She reportedly used over 20 different phone numbers and devices during her time on the run. Despite her attempts to remain underground, Patel continued uploading content to her social media accounts, including Instagram Reels, which eventually helped the police narrow down her location.

Authorities employed a team of cyber experts and technical surveillance specialists to track her online activities. Eventually, she was located in the Sarkhej area of Ahmedabad. Following a court warrant, police raided her residence and arrested her on June 19, 2025.

Further investigations revealed that Patel had been named in over 10 FIRs across Gujarat. Her criminal record includes allegations of extortion, land grabbing, criminal intimidation, and assault. Despite this, she maintained a public image of a successful influencer, appearing in various public events and online campaigns.

The police are now interrogating Patel to gather more information about her accomplices and other potential victims. Officials have also indicated that more legal actions may follow as multiple cases linked to her are reopened. Kirti Patel’s arrest has sparked widespread public attention, raising questions about how individuals with serious criminal allegations continue to operate freely on digital platforms.

This case underscores the dark intersection of social media fame and criminal exploitation, exposing how digital personas can be used to mask unlawful activities. As investigations continue, Patel remains in police custody, and the spotlight is now firmly on the influence and accountability of online celebrities.
