Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and her brother Siddharth Chopra have extended their heartfelt condolences following the tragic demise of Mannara Chopra’s father, Raman Rai Handa. The news broke on June 16, 2025, leaving the Chopra and Handa families in deep mourning.
Mannara Chopra, best known for her stint in Bigg Boss 17 and several South Indian and Hindi films, shared the devastating news through an emotional post on Instagram. She wrote, “With profound grief and sorrow, we inform the sad demise of our loving father, Raman Rai Handa. He was the pillar of strength for our family.” The statement reflected the deep loss the family is experiencing and asked for privacy during this time of grief.
Raman Rai Handa, aged 72, was a respected advocate at the Delhi High Court. He is survived by his wife Kamini Chopra Handa and daughters Mannara and Mitali Handa. Known for his dignified presence and legal acumen, Handa was also the paternal uncle of Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra, making this a deeply personal loss for the larger Chopra family.
The funeral rites are scheduled to take place on June 18, 2025, at 1 PM at the Crematorium Ground in Andheri West, Mumbai. Mannara and her sister Mitali were seen at the Mumbai airport, visibly emotional as they returned to perform the final rites of their beloved father. Their grief-stricken faces reflected the depth of their sorrow and the close bond they shared with their father.
Priyanka Chopra, though currently abroad, expressed her support and sorrow privately and is expected to pay tribute in her own way. Her brother Siddharth, who shares a close bond with Mannara and her family, also offered his condolences.
Actress Meera Chopra, another cousin, shared her heartfelt grief over the sudden demise. In an emotional note, she said, “Losing a parent... nothing can be worse than that. Uncle was a kind soul and a strong man. We are all in shock.” Meera’s statement captured the collective sentiment of a family that has always portrayed unity and love.
Raman Rai Handa was known not only for his legal achievements but also for being a family man. His strong values, humility, and supportive nature made him a guiding figure in the lives of his daughters and nieces. His death, coming just a day after Father’s Day, has added an even more painful weight to the family's grief.
Mannara Chopra, born Barbie Handa, has built her career in the Indian entertainment industry with dedication and resilience. She recently gained popularity for her appearance on Bigg Boss 17, where she finished as the second runner-up. This personal loss is a huge emotional blow for her as she navigates through her growing public life and personal sorrow.
The Chopra-Handa family has requested the public and media to allow them the space and privacy to cope with their grief. As messages of condolence pour in from fans and industry colleagues alike, the family continues to stand together in remembrance of a man who was truly their strength and support.
