The fifth installment of the Housefull franchise, Housefull 5, starring Akshay Kumar, has made a grand entry into the ₹100 crore club, showcasing the actor’s continued dominance at the box office. Released on a Friday, the film has managed to sustain strong momentum through its opening weekend and into the first weekday, bringing its total collection to an impressive ₹101 crore nett in just four days.
The film opened with a solid ₹24 crore on its first day, thanks to Akshay Kumar’s star power and the loyal fan base of the franchise. On the second day, Housefull 5 saw significant growth, collecting approximately ₹31 crore, marking a 29% jump from its debut day. Sunday witnessed the peak of the weekend surge, with collections reaching around ₹32.5 crore, benefiting from family audiences and word-of-mouth traction. The film's appeal lies in its signature slapstick comedy, ensemble cast, and over-the-top sequences that continue to attract a wide audience.
Despite Monday being a weekday, the film held strong, collecting around ₹13.1 crore, which contributed to it surpassing the ₹100 crore mark. The Hindi occupancy rate on Monday remained relatively steady at 17.6%, indicating continued audience interest despite mixed reviews. The performance of Housefull 5 during weekdays will play a crucial role in determining its long-term success, but the signs so far are promising.
The film has already outperformed Akshay Kumar’s previous release, Kesari Chapter 2, which had netted ₹92.5 crore during its run. It is now positioned as the third-highest Bollywood opener of 2025, following Chhaava and Sikandar. With this momentum, Housefull 5 could soon challenge the earnings of major 2025 hits like Sky Force, which had a lifetime collection close to ₹149 crore.
Critics have offered mixed reviews for Housefull 5, with many noting that the film sticks to its familiar formula of humor and chaos, appealing mainly to fans of the franchise. While the screenplay and jokes were described as predictable and sometimes forced, audiences have largely embraced the film for its entertaining value, extravagant visuals, and comic timing. The ensemble cast, including veterans and newcomers alike, contributes to the film’s vibrant and energetic atmosphere.
Housefull 5’s success reaffirms the viability of comedy films in the Indian market, especially those with established branding and popular actors. Akshay Kumar, known for his prolific work rate and versatility, once again proves his box office draw. The franchise has shown remarkable consistency in attracting viewers, and its fifth entry continues the legacy with a winning formula.
In the coming days, the film’s performance will be closely watched to see if it can maintain its pace and cross the ₹130–₹140 crore mark. As of now, Housefull 5 stands as a commercial success and another milestone in Akshay Kumar’s already illustrious career.
