At the grand trailer launch of Son of Sardaar 2, Bollywood star Ajay Devgn broke his silence on the controversy surrounding Diljit Dosanjh’s film Sardaar Ji 3, which cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The film, which released internationally but faced a ban in India due to ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, has been at the center of industry backlash. During the media interaction, Ajay was asked about the criticism directed toward Diljit and the casting choice that sparked debate.
Responding calmly, Devgn said, “I don’t know where the trolling comes from… Uski apni problem hongi, aur baaki jo log keh rahe hain woh apne point of view se soch rahe hain.” His diplomatic response indicated that he did not wish to blame anyone and acknowledged that people have different perspectives. By neither defending nor attacking Diljit, Ajay chose a middle path, stressing the importance of understanding multiple viewpoints rather than jumping to conclusions.
The controversy intensified after several Indian film worker associations voiced their disapproval of the film’s casting decision, arguing that actors from hostile nations should not be promoted. However, Ajay’s statement reflected a more neutral tone, perhaps suggesting the need for maturity in handling such cross-border artistic exchanges.
Meanwhile, Son of Sardaar 2 marks Ajay’s return as the beloved character Jassi after more than a decade since the original film released in 2012. The new trailer, which dropped on July 11, features a fun-filled journey set in Scotland and stars Mrunal Thakur alongside Devgn. The sequel promises a mix of Punjabi comedy, emotional moments, and full-blown action, staying true to the flavor of the original.
The film is slated for release on July 25, 2025, and fans are already buzzing with excitement. The trailer has been well-received, with audiences praising Ajay’s trademark humor and the fresh pairing with Mrunal.
In light of the current political sensitivities, Ajay’s composed take on the Sardaar Ji 3 row highlights his seasoned approach to public controversies. Instead of adding fuel to the fire, he encouraged a space for reflection and dialogue, positioning himself as a responsible voice in Bollywood during tense times.
