Naga Chaitanya Says He Met Sobhita Dhulipala on Instagram — From A Simple DM to Married Life

Bollywood actor Naga Chaitanya has opened up about how his love story with actress Sobhita Dhulipala began in a way many new romances do these days: through Instagram. The revelation adds a modern twist to their relationship, one that culminated in their wedding on December 4, 2024.

How It All Started

Chaitanya revealed during an appearance on the talk show Jayammu Nischayammuraa that Sobhita first commented on one of his Instagram posts — something small, like reacting with an emoji. Intrigued, he began chatting with her over DMs. He admitted that he “never imagined” his partner might come from a social media interaction.

From there, their conversations deepened and eventually became real-life meetings. Chaitanya also reflected on how this organic connection stood out, especially since they didn’t rush into making it public. Their relationship developed gradually, with mutual respect and a blend of personal and professional life.

Petty Drama, Normal Life

It’s not all romance, though. He shared a lighthearted incident involving a song from his film Thandel called “Bujji Thalli”. Sobhita, apparently unhappy with how the song was used, didn’t talk to him for a few days. Chaitanya joked that she assumed he had asked the director to include the nickname Bujji Thalli for her.

When asked in a rapid-fire round what he couldn’t live without, without hesitation he answered: “Sobhita, my wife.”

Why This Sparks Conversation

This revelation matters for several reasons:

  • Celebrity romantic narratives are changing. In an era when celebrity relationships are frequently curated, Chaitanya’s openness about starting via Instagram humanizes the process. It also shows how even for stars, connections often begin in everyday digital spaces.

  • The new ROI of relationships. His story subtly points to how social media — DMs, comments, emojis — has become an accepted legit pathway to romance. For celebrities dealing with public scrutiny and managed images, this feels like a softer entry into love.

  • Authenticity vs Overexposure. Some may praise Chaitanya’s honesty as refreshing. Others might see it as part of a calculated reveal — telling personal stories that are intimately appealing to fans, helping maintain public interest in him and Sobhita.

Potential Criticism

Of course, not everyone will view this confession as sweet:

  • Inviting expectations. Once celebrities share so much, fans expect more — more honesty, more emotional moments. That can make private struggles public and exhausting.

  • Romanticizing the DM culture. While meeting via social media DMs is common, romanticizing it in public might gloss over problems that such beginnings can entail (miscommunication, privacy invasion, assumptions about intent).

  • Comparisons and backlash. Given Chaitanya’s previous high-profile marriage to Samantha Ruth Prabhu, any story about romance now invites comparisons. Some fans may see this as a response to his past, an effort to create a “better narrative.”
