Kajol Opens Up About Ageing and Self-Image: “It Is Not a Big Deal”

In a recent candid interview with Filmfare, celebrated Bollywood actress Kajol shared her perspective on ageing and self-image, offering a refreshing take that challenges society’s conventional standards. Known for her strong on-screen presence and natural beauty, Kajol has always stood out for her authenticity both on and off-screen. Now, at 50, she embraces her age with confidence and wisdom, sending a powerful message about self-acceptance.

The headline of her thoughts could not have been clearer: “It is not a big deal.” Kajol stated that ageing doesn’t bother her much and instead sees it as a sign of progress and direction in life. “It’s not a big deal. A reminder of whether you are heading in the correct direction in life. I’ve been moving in the correct direction,” she explained. Her words reflect a deep sense of self-awareness and assurance, highlighting that growing older is not something to fear but something to respect and accept with grace.

Touching upon the sensitive and often controversial topic of cosmetic surgery, Kajol shared her balanced and thoughtful view. She described cosmetic procedures as a “dicey” subject, emphasizing that while such surgeries are necessary and even life-changing for individuals like acid attack or burn victims, the decision to undergo cosmetic enhancement for purely aesthetic reasons should be well thought out. Kajol pointed out that choosing surgery for something as trivial as cheekbones or a minor feature may not always be justified. She stressed the importance of self-reflection, saying one should be absolutely sure about the necessity and impact of altering any part of their body. According to her, the key lies in asking oneself whether such a change is truly needed to feel whole or happy.

Kajol’s approach underlines personal choice and responsibility, without judging those who opt for cosmetic procedures. Instead, she advocates for making informed, conscious decisions rather than being swayed by societal pressures or beauty standards.

Apart from reflecting on these personal topics, Kajol is also busy promoting her upcoming film Maa, a mythological horror directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Subbarayan. In the movie, she plays the role of a fierce mother who takes on demonic forces to protect her daughter. The film showcases her versatility and commitment as an actor and is set to release in theatres on June 27.

Kajol’s statements come at a time when public figures are increasingly speaking up about body image, ageism, and the pressure to look a certain way in the entertainment industry. Her openness adds to the growing discourse encouraging self-love, confidence, and individuality. Through her words, Kajol reaffirms that beauty lies in being true to oneself, and that age is not a barrier but a testament to experience and strength.

In an industry obsessed with youth and perfection, Kajol stands as a beacon of authenticity, reminding everyone that self-worth isn’t tied to appearance, but to how one chooses to live and grow.
