‘Housefull 5’ to Release with Two Different Climax Versions: Gaiety Galaxy Owner Shares Screening Strategy

In a bold and innovative move, the makers of Housefull 5 have decided to release the film with two different climax versions, titled Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B. This dual-ending approach marks a first in Indian cinema and is set to offer audiences a unique cinematic experience. The concept, which was ideated by producer Sajid Nadiadwala, aims to double the entertainment by presenting two different versions of the film, each with its own unexpected ending.

The idea of having alternate climaxes was something Sajid Nadiadwala had been contemplating for nearly 30 years. He believed that such an approach would not only intrigue the audience but also give them a reason to revisit the theaters. The decision was backed by the creative team and cast, and the film was carefully crafted to allow both versions to make sense as standalone narratives while keeping the story engaging and humorous in line with the franchise's legacy.

To ensure a fair and strategic distribution of both versions, exhibitors have stepped in to coordinate how the screenings will be managed. Manoj Desai, the executive director of G7 Multiplex (popularly known as Gaiety Galaxy) and Maratha Mandir, shared that Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B would be screened in different theaters within the multiplex. This will give viewers the chance to choose which version they want to watch first — or watch both for a complete experience. For example, Gaiety will screen one version while Galaxy will run the other, with each having four daily shows. This way, both films get equal exposure and audience reach.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 features a massive ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and others. The story unfolds aboard a luxurious cruise ship where a billionaire dies under mysterious circumstances, setting the stage for a hilarious murder mystery packed with confusion, slapstick humor, and classic Housefull-style madness.

Both versions of the film have received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), ensuring they are family-friendly while still packed with the trademark comic elements. Minor changes were made in the dialogues and visuals to meet the board’s standards. Despite having two versions, both Housefull 5A and 5B share the same runtime, which helps keep the logistics simpler for theaters.

With a staggering budget of ₹225 crore, Housefull 5 is touted as India’s most expensive comedy film. The dual-climax approach is not just a storytelling experiment but also a marketing masterstroke aimed at driving repeat viewership. Fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating the release, curious to see how the two endings differ and which one they prefer.

This strategic and creative decision could very well set a trend for future Bollywood projects, offering filmmakers a new way to surprise and engage audiences beyond traditional formats.
