Divya Dutta Recalls Shooting a Kissing Scene with Irrfan Khan in Hisss: “He Was Nervous”


In a recent candid interview, acclaimed actress Divya Dutta opened up about a memorable moment in her career involving the late Irrfan Khan during the shoot of the 2010 film Hisss. Directed by Jennifer Lynch, Hisss was a horror-fantasy film that explored the ancient legend of the Nagin — a mythical shape-shifting serpent woman. While the film starred Mallika Sherawat in the lead, it also featured key performances by Divya Dutta and Irrfan Khan.

Dutta, known for her powerful performances and versatility, shared a heartfelt anecdote from the set, recalling how Irrfan Khan, one of India’s most celebrated actors, was unusually nervous before shooting a kissing scene with her. The scene required an emotional and intimate portrayal between the two characters, which made the moment even more personal and delicate.

The actress remembered being surprised by Irrfan’s nervousness. “I was looking for Irrfan on set, and someone told me he was on the terrace. When I went up, he told me he was nervous about the scene,” Dutta shared. She admitted that it was unexpected to see such a seasoned and confident actor feeling anxious, but she appreciated his honesty and vulnerability.

Rather than letting the situation create awkwardness, Dutta approached it with calm professionalism. She reassured Irrfan that everything would go smoothly and that they could trust the direction and vision of Jennifer Lynch. Dutta also praised Lynch for the way she handled the scene and made both actors feel comfortable.
