Bipasha Basu, once a dominant face in Bollywood, rose to fame with her debut film Ajnabee in 2001. Her bold performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, making her an overnight star. However, her breakthrough came with the 2002 horror thriller Raaz, where she played the lead role. The film's massive success cemented her position as a leading actress in the thriller and horror genre.
Over the next few years, Bipasha delivered several box office hits. Films like Jism (2003), No Entry (2005), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Dhoom 2 (2006), Race (2008), and Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) showcased her versatility, glamour, and screen presence. Known for her sultry image and fitness regime, she became one of the most bankable actresses of the 2000s. Her success was especially remarkable in a male-dominated industry, and she was one of the few actresses to lead films in the horror-thriller genre.
However, the 2010s brought a gradual decline in her film career. While she continued to appear in movies like Raaz 3D (2012), Aatma (2013), Creature 3D (2014), and Alone (2015), none of these projects performed exceptionally at the box office. After a cameo in Welcome To New York in 2018, she took a long break from the silver screen.
In 2020, Bipasha made her digital debut with the web series Dangerous, co-starring her husband Karan Singh Grover. The series, however, became the center of controversy. Producer Mika Singh accused Bipasha and Karan of being unprofessional during the shoot. Allegations included the couple demanding separate rooms despite being married, refusing to do a kissing scene despite contractual obligations, and causing delays that doubled the production time. These claims attracted media attention and hinted at deeper issues behind the scenes, adding an unfortunate chapter to her otherwise graceful career.
On the personal front, Bipasha married actor Karan Singh Grover on April 30, 2016. Their relationship has been widely covered by the media, admired for its chemistry and public affection. The couple welcomed their daughter, Devi Basu Singh Grover, on November 12, 2022. Devi was born with two holes in her heart and underwent surgery at just three months old. Bipasha later shared this emotional journey with her fans, receiving overwhelming support.
Now focusing on her family, Bipasha has taken a step back from full-time acting. However, she has made selective appearances, including a cameo in a recent psychological thriller series. She also remains active on social media, promoting fitness and wellness brands, reflecting her continued passion for health.
Bipasha Basu’s journey, from a supermodel to one of Bollywood’s top actresses and now a doting mother, has been filled with highs and lows. Despite the setbacks, she continues to reinvent herself, proving her strength both as an artist and as a person. Her story is one of resilience, reinvention, and quiet determination.
