Anshula Kapoor Remembers Life After Father Boney Kapoor Married Sridevi: “Because of the Partner That Dad Chose…”

Anshula Kapoor, daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and late Mona Shourie Kapoor, has opened up about the emotional struggles she endured as a child after her father married iconic Bollywood actress Sridevi. In a deeply personal and heartfelt revelation, Anshula reflected on how the public nature of her father’s remarriage affected not just her family dynamics but also her social life as a young girl.

Anshula recalled that she was in the first grade when her world began to shift drastically. The stigma of divorce and remarriage in the 90s was still deeply embedded in Indian society, and it was the children who often bore the brunt of this judgment. She shared that her family became socially isolated—parents of her school friends no longer wanted their children to associate with her. “They didn’t want their children to come into our house and be part of any friction,” she said. This exclusion was not only confusing for a child but also left her feeling abandoned and judged for decisions that were beyond her control.

The emotional impact of that time was intensified because of the media attention surrounding her father's new relationship. “Because of the partner that dad chose, unfortunately or fortunately, it became a lot more public, because they were both public figures,” Anshula explained. The attention surrounding Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s relationship magnified the situation, making what was already a difficult transition for her and her brother Arjun Kapoor, even more distressing.

Anshula credited her mother Mona for helping her navigate that difficult phase. She revealed how her mother maintained honesty and openness with her children and served as their emotional anchor. Despite the challenges, Anshula found strength in her close-knit bond with her mother and her brother. That family support helped her build resilience and maintain some sense of normalcy amid the emotional chaos.

Years later, the tragic death of Sridevi in 2018 became a turning point in the lives of the Kapoor siblings. It was then that Anshula and Arjun Kapoor stepped up to support their half-sisters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor. Over time, what was once an emotionally fractured family began to rebuild and grow closer. Today, Anshula shares a warm bond with Janhvi and Khushi, and together they present a united front despite the complex history.

Beyond her personal experiences, Anshula has emerged as a powerful voice advocating for mental health and body positivity. She has used her own struggles as a platform to speak on issues many shy away from, earning admiration for her honesty and emotional courage. Her story is a testament to how pain and confusion can evolve into strength and empathy.

In sharing her truth, Anshula Kapoor sheds light on the emotional impact of broken families, societal judgment, and the challenges of growing up in the shadow of public scrutiny. Her journey from childhood isolation to self-empowerment is both inspiring and a reminder of the healing power of vulnerability.
