Aneet Padda Goes OTT With Nyaya, But YRF Says She’s Still Big-Screen Gold

In a decision that’s both surprising and controversial, rising Bollywood star Aneet Padda — who became an overnight sensation with Saiyaara — is now headed straight to OTT for her next big release. This shift has raised eyebrows, especially after insiders from Yash Raj Films had recently dubbed her a “big screen heroine.”

From Debutant to National Crush

Aneet Padda’s transformation from an unknown Delhi University student to a full-blown cinematic star was nothing short of extraordinary. Her debut film Saiyaara, released on July 18, 2025, opposite Ahaan Panday, became a box office juggernaut. Directed by Mohit Suri and backed by YRF, the romantic drama raked in ₹328 crore globally, making it the second-highest grossing Hindi film of the year.

Audiences were charmed by Aneet’s raw energy, emotional range, and effortless screen presence. Comparisons to early-career Alia Bhatt and even Hrithik Roshan flooded social media. She was hailed as the face of Bollywood’s “outsider revolution.”

So Why the Sudden Shift to OTT?

With such a powerful theatrical debut, fans naturally assumed her next release would also grace the big screen. However, insiders now confirm that Aneet’s upcoming project will debut directly on a streaming platform, most likely Netflix, later this year — possibly around Diwali.

This move is being sold as a “strategic pivot” by the studio, but the explanation hasn’t sat well with everyone. Some believe it’s a practical choice, in line with trends followed by stars like Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt. But others call it a deliberate “cooling down” of her rising star power.

Industry Politics or Smart Career Move?

The sudden shift has led to whispers of internal politics. Is Bollywood uncomfortable with someone who gained fame without famous parents or years of PR campaigns? Fans speculate that Aneet is being steered away from the limelight too soon, possibly to give other “favored” newcomers breathing space.

Critics argue that OTT projects — while now more respected — still don’t offer the mass appeal or glamour of a big-screen blockbuster. “She broke through the noise with a theatrical hit — and they’re moving her to a couch-watch?” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).

YRF’s Statement Adds to the Confusion

To make matters more complex, sources from YRF have reiterated that Aneet “is very much a big screen heroine” and that her digital debut is “only part of a long-term vision.” Yet, for many, this feels contradictory. If she’s meant for theaters, why the rush to take her online?

Will OTT Elevate or Erode Her Stardom?

As anticipation builds, one question dominates: Can Aneet Padda recreate her Saiyaara magic on OTT? Or will the digital debut reduce the cinematic aura she worked so hard to build?

Whether this is a masterstroke or a misstep, one thing is clear — all eyes are on her next move. And in a business where perception often outweighs performance, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
