Ananya Panday Acknowledges Her Privilege, Vows Not to Waste It

Bollywood actor Ananya Panday has once again addressed the ongoing debate around nepotism in the film industry, this time with refreshing honesty and maturity. The young star, who made her debut in 2019 with Student of the Year 2, has openly acknowledged her privileged background, expressing both gratitude and responsibility for the opportunities that have come her way.

In a recent interview, Ananya stated, “I’ve always been the kind of person to acknowledge my privilege. Even when I went on Koffee with Karan for the first time, I said that I know that I’m privileged. I know that there are probably people out there who are more talented, better looking and more hardworking than I am. But now I’ve got this opportunity, and I don’t want to waste it, as this has also been my dream since I was a child.”

The daughter of veteran actor Chunky Panday, Ananya emphasized that she no longer views her background as something to be ashamed of. Instead, she sees it as a legacy that she is proud to continue. “I’ve taken the shame out of being privileged, and I look at it with a sense of pride. My father was a child of two doctors, and his dream was to become an actor; he became one. He worked for 40-plus years, and if I can carry forward his legacy and make him proud, it will be a very big achievement for me. I don’t want to not be known as Chunky Panday’s daughter. I’m so proud that he’s my father. I don’t want to look at it as a negative thing anymore because people will always have something to say,” she added.

Since her debut, Ananya has taken on a variety of roles in an attempt to break away from the label of being just another “nepo baby.” Though often under the scrutiny of critics and audiences alike, she has remained focused on growing as an actor and finding her own identity in Bollywood. Her performances in films like Pati Patni Aur Woh, Gehraiyaan, and Dream Girl 2 have showcased her willingness to experiment with different genres and roles.

Ananya’s upcoming projects reflect her continued effort to diversify her filmography. She will be seen opposite Kartik Aaryan in Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, a film directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Dharma Productions, set to release on February 13, 2026. She is also starring in the romantic drama Chand Mera Dil alongside Lakshya, directed by Vivek Soni, which is expected to release in 2025. Her latest screen appearance was in Kesari Chapter 2 with Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan.
