Aaliyah Kashyap Marries Again — Netizens Question the Double Wedding Drama

In a surprising twist that’s setting gossip mills on fire, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap has tied the knot again—just months after her lavish Indian wedding. This time, the influencer and YouTuber walked down the aisle in a dreamy white wedding ceremony with longtime partner Shane Gregoire in New York. But while fans are swooning over the pictures, a large section of the internet is left confused—and even critical—over the couple’s decision to host two extravagant ceremonies in less than a year.

Aaliyah, who got married in a traditional Hindu ceremony in Mumbai in December 2024, chose to “get married again” in July 2025 in a Christian-style event, donning a lacey white gown and posing for Instagram-perfect portraits. The event, held in New York, looked straight out of a Pinterest board, complete with a designer dress, diamond jewellery, and picture-perfect floral setups. Shane looked like a textbook groom in his black suit and bow tie. The caption on their post was simple: “We got married again.” But was it really just that simple?

The glitzy affair has sparked criticism online, with many questioning if this was an emotional tribute to both cultures or just another influencer flex. While supporters praised the couple for honouring both their traditions, others argued that these weddings reek of privilege and performative aesthetics. “Weddings have turned into PR campaigns,” one user commented, while another sarcastically noted, “So nice they could afford to get married twice while most people struggle with one.”

Adding to the buzz is the presence—or rather the reaction—of Anurag Kashyap himself. The maverick filmmaker had earlier admitted that he felt overwhelmed during the first wedding and wanted to leave even before the reception. His emotional discomfort raised eyebrows and has now returned to the spotlight with this second celebration. Was it a celebration of love or just another curated content reel for the elite?

Interestingly, Anurag’s ex-wife Kalki Koechlin also attended the Mumbai ceremony and later shared that she had “moved on” and maintains a good relationship with Aaliyah. Admirable, yes—but also ripe for debate. The celebrity circle’s obsession with maintaining ‘modern family’ optics continues to feed into a narrative of polished dysfunction.

And let’s not forget the influencer angle. Aaliyah Kashyap, already popular on social media, has now amplified her public image with two high-profile weddings. With brand deals, posts, and reels wrapped in designer gowns and emotional moments, this second wedding feels more like a branding opportunity than a sacred union.

While it’s their personal choice, the double wedding narrative is bound to remain controversial. It highlights the stark difference between celebrity culture and common reality—where multiple weddings aren’t romantic, but redundant. In a time when weddings are increasingly commercialised, Aaliyah and Shane’s “again” moment may look beautiful on screen, but for many, it’s a symbol of tone-deaf privilege. Whether it was heartfelt or a PR stunt, one thing is certain: it has everyone talking.
