Sooraj R. Barjatya is bringing one of Rajshri Productions’ most recognisable screen identities back to cinemas with Yeh Prem Mol Liya, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari.

Rajshri Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films officially announced the project on April 21, confirming Ayushmann and Sharvari as the leads and locking a November 27, 2026 theatrical release. The makers described the film as a big-screen family entertainer and also confirmed that Himesh Reshammiya is composing the music.

The announcement is significant because Ayushmann will step into the familiar Rajshri name Prem for the first time a character identity most closely associated with Salman Khan across several of Barjatya’s films.

Why ‘Prem’ matters so much in Sooraj Barjatya’s cinema

Rajshri’s official announcement described Yeh Prem Mol Liya as a Himesh Reshammiya musical.

This reunites Reshammiya with Barjatya after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Their earlier collaborations also include Humraaz-era Rajshri-associated work and, most prominently, Barjatya’s 2015 Salman Khan-led family drama.

The project is now well beyond the announcement stage.

By late July, production reports said principal photography had concluded. Anupam Kher publicly marked the completion of his portion and praised Barjatya’s filmmaking, while subsequent updates confirmed the wider shoot had wrapped.

Swanand Kirkire later announced completion of his work on the film as well, saying he believed audiences would connect with it.

That production progress is significant because the film has a fixed theatrical date only a few months away.

Yeh Prem Mol Liya will not necessarily have the date to itself.

Emraan Hashmi’s Gunmaaster: G9 has also been announced for November 27, creating a potential box-office clash between two films targeting very different audience segments.

That contrast could work in both films’ favour: Yeh Prem Mol Liya is being positioned as a family musical entertainer, while Gunmaaster: G9 is an action thriller.

Still, until either production changes dates, November 27 is shaping up to be a commercially competitive weekend.

Sooraj Barjatya returns to theatrical direction after Uunchai

Yeh Prem Mol Liya is Barjatya’s next theatrical feature after Uunchai.

That 2022 film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Neena Gupta, Sarika and Parineeti Chopra, and earned Barjatya the National Film Award for Best Direction.

His return to a more recognisably Rajshri-style family-romance space therefore marks a shift from the mature friendship drama of Uunchai.

At the same time, Yeh Prem Mol Liya does not appear to be simply recreating the Salman Khan-era template. The casting itself suggests some generational recalibration.

Ayushmann and Sharvari bring a newer star dynamic, while the film’s positioning still preserves Rajshri’s familiar emphasis on family, romance and music.

The most interesting thing about Yeh Prem Mol Liya is not merely that Rajshri has brought the name Prem back.

It is who has been chosen to inherit it.

Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem traditionally represents something closer to emotional idealism.
