Sunita Ahuja Withdraws Divorce Petition Against Govinda, His Manager Says ‘There Is No Separation’

After months of public statements, separation speculation and an increasingly visible marital dispute, Sunita Ahuja has withdrawn the divorce petition she had filed against husband Govinda.

The development was confirmed by Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, after Sunita was spotted at Mumbai's Bandra Family Court on Wednesday, August 19, accompanied by the couple's son Yashvardhan Ahuja.

Sinha told The Indian Express that Sunita had taken back the divorce case and maintained that the couple was no longer heading towards separation.

“Sunita ji has withdrawn the divorce case against Govinda; there is no separation,” Sinha said.

The withdrawal represents a significant change in a marital dispute that has repeatedly spilled into public view. However, it does not automatically answer every question surrounding Govinda and Sunita's relationship particularly after both made sharply critical statements about each other in recent months.

Why was Sunita Ahuja at the family court?

Sunita's appearance at the Bandra Family Court initially generated fresh speculation that the couple's marital problems had escalated.

She was accompanied by Yashvardhan and an advocate.

When photographers questioned her about the reason for her court appearance, Sunita avoided giving a substantive explanation and jokingly responded that she had come to celebrate a birthday.

The reason became clearer after Govinda's manager confirmed that she had visited in connection with withdrawing the divorce proceedings.

According to Sinha, Sunita had originally filed the case approximately two years ago.

That detail is significant because public discussion around a possible Govinda-Sunita divorce became widespread much later, demonstrating that the legal and public timelines of their marital difficulties may not have been identical.

Govinda's manager says the couple will not separate

Sinha went beyond confirming the withdrawal and described it as positive news for the family.

According to his account, Sunita had acted on what she felt at the time of filing the case but had now reconsidered that decision.

He also said Govinda and the couple's children were “neutral” about her decision.

The manager's statement is currently the clearest on-record confirmation concerning the status of the divorce proceedings.

Neither Govinda nor Sunita appears to have issued a detailed joint statement explaining the decision or setting out the current status of their marriage.

For that reason, the withdrawal should not automatically be interpreted as proof that every disagreement between them has been resolved.

What can be said with greater confidence is narrower: according to Govinda's manager, the divorce petition has been withdrawn and the couple is not presently proceeding with the separation.

The development follows a very public period of marital discord

The withdrawal is particularly notable because Govinda and Sunita's differences had recently become unusually public.

Sunita had spoken openly in interviews about their living arrangements and marital problems. She also made allegations concerning Govinda's relationships with other women.

More recently, she criticised Govinda over his association with actress Komal Rani Swarnkar and used the phrase “sugar daddy” while commenting on their equation.

Govinda subsequently responded publicly.

The couple have been married since 1987 and have two children, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja.
