Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ Co-Actor Rohullah Mehdi Named in Mumbai-Area Drug Case, Court Grants Police Custody

Actor and model Rohullah Mehdi has been arrested in connection with an alleged narcotics case being investigated by the Kashimira Police Crime Branch, with a court subsequently remanding him to five days of police custody.

According to police accounts carried by multiple news organisations on August 23, 2026, the case concerns the alleged sale of MD through social-media platforms including Snapchat and WhatsApp. Two people have been arrested, and Mehdi has been named as an accused in FIR No. 437/2026.

The most important legal distinction is that Mehdi has been arrested and accused; he has not been convicted. The allegations remain under investigation and must be reported as such.

He has been widely identified in current coverage as an actor who appeared in Shahid Kapoor’s 2025 film Deva. However, the film’s official Roy Kapur Films page lists only Shahid Kapoor, Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in its principal cast section and does not independently establish Mehdi’s specific credited role.

What Police Allege Happened

Police said they received information suggesting that MD was being sold through social-media and messaging platforms.

Investigators then allegedly arranged a controlled transaction using a decoy customer. According to the police version reproduced by NDTV and Bombay Samachar, a man identified as Kasif was called to the area near Thakur Mall at Dahisar Check Naka, where he was allegedly intercepted while delivering 28 grams of MD.

Police put the estimated value of the seized substance at approximately ₹5.60 lakh.

During questioning, Kasif allegedly named Rohullah Mehdi, prompting officers to trace the actor.

That sequence is the investigating agency’s account and should not be rewritten as an independently proven reconstruction of events.

Rohullah Mehdi Was Arrested Outside a Malad Studio, Police Say

Police accounts say Mehdi was subsequently arrested outside a studio in Malad, where he was reportedly working at the time.

Current reports identify him more fully as Rohullah Mehdi Dar, also referred to as Rohu, and say he is originally from Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir and had been living in Goregaon.

After the arrest, he was produced before a court, which sent him to five days of police custody.

The remand allows investigators to continue questioning him while the case develops; it is not a judicial determination of guilt.

What Does FIR No. 437/2026 Establish?

Current reporting consistently identifies the case as FIR No. 437/2026 and says Mehdi has been named as a principal accused in the investigation.

At the time of this review, The Celebrity Hour did not locate a publicly accessible copy of the FIR or a corresponding official Kashimira Police press release online.

That means details such as Mehdi’s alleged role in the network, the exact offences invoked under the NDPS Act and the prosecution’s eventual evidentiary case should not be expanded beyond what police have publicly stated through current reporting.

Police Are Examining a Wider Alleged Network

Investigators are now reportedly looking into whether the alleged operation extended beyond the two people already arrested.

Police are trying to determine to whom drugs may have been supplied and whether others had any connection with the alleged network. Some current reports also say investigators are examining possible links to people in the entertainment industry.

That last point requires particular caution.

There is currently no verified basis to identify any additional actor, filmmaker or celebrity as being involved. Saying that police are examining possible links is very different from claiming that a wider “Bollywood drug network” has already been established.

Any names emerging only through speculation should be excluded unless police, a court filing or another authoritative record directly identifies them.

Was Rohullah Mehdi Really Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Deva’ Co-Star?

Current reports repeatedly describe Mehdi as having appeared in Deva, with some identifying his character as “Rohanj Bhai.”

The broader connection to the film is therefore well reported.

But there is an editorial nuance worth preserving: Roy Kapur Films’ official page for Deva does not list Mehdi among its three featured cast members. The official page names Shahid Kapoor, Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati and confirms that the Rosshan Andrrews-directed action thriller was released on January 31, 2025.

Accordingly, “Deva actor” or “actor who appeared in Deva” is safer than wording that could imply Mehdi was one of Shahid Kapoor’s principal co-leads.

The film itself was produced by Roy Kapur Films and Zee Studios.

Why the Social-Media Angle Matters

The investigative detail that distinguishes this case from a routine narcotics seizure is the alleged use of digital platforms.

Police say Snapchat, WhatsApp and other services were being used to facilitate drug transactions.

If investigators substantiate that allegation, the case could involve not just the physical seizure but digital evidence such as account activity, communication records and transaction trails.

However, those evidentiary details have not yet been publicly established in a court finding.

At this stage, the factual position is narrower: police allege that social-media platforms were used, they seized what they describe as 28 grams of MD, arrested two people, and secured five days of custody for Mehdi.

No Conviction Has Occurred

The distinction between arrest and guilt is especially important in narcotics reporting.

Mehdi is currently an accused person in an active criminal investigation. A police allegation, seizure claim or custodial remand does not establish that he committed the alleged offences.

Bombay Samachar’s report on the case similarly noted that the allegations remain part of an ongoing investigation and that being named as an accused does not amount to a finding of guilt.

Any final determination will depend on the evidence placed before the court and the subsequent legal proceedings.

The arrest naturally attracts entertainment attention because Rohullah Mehdi has worked on screen and is being linked to a Shahid Kapoor film.

But the movie connection should not become the story’s most sensational element.

The more important development is the police allegation of a narcotics supply channel operating through social-media platforms, together with a documented seizure, two arrests and a custodial remand.

Equally important is what has not been established.

There is no conviction. There is no verified list of entertainment-industry customers. And there is no basis at present for converting an investigation into claims about a wider Bollywood conspiracy.
