Family Kirana Store Season 2 Confirmed by TVF

The shutters are going up again at Gajanand's neighbourhood kirana shop.

The Viral Fever has confirmed a second season of Family Kirana Store, bringing back the middle-class family comedy only months after its first season began streaming free on YouTube.

The renewal isn't entirely unexpected. TVF had previously revealed that Family Kirana Store had crossed 20 million views across platforms and said the audience response had encouraged it to develop multiple seasons around the Gupta family.

Now that intention has become a concrete Season 2.

Multiple reports published on August 7 said filming was scheduled to begin the following week, with Shrikant Verma returning at the centre of the series as Gajanand alongside Garima Vikrant Singh and Hemant Mishra. The new season is expected to continue on YouTube.

For TVF, however, the renewal is about more than bringing back another successful web series. Family Kirana Store represents a model the company knows particularly well: taking an ordinary Indian environment and finding enough humour, conflict and emotion inside it to build an expandable fictional world.

How Family Kirana Store started

The first season arrived earlier this year.

TVF released the official trailer on February 3 before premiering Episode 1, titled “Jaali Note,” on February 6, 2026. The company announced at launch that new episodes would arrive every Friday.

The premise was deliberately modest.

Instead of constructing the show around a high-concept plot, Family Kirana Store follows the people running a neighbourhood grocery shop and the situations that emerge around their customers, family relationships and daily responsibilities.

Shrikant Verma leads the cast, with Garima Vikrant Singh and Hemant Mishra among the principal performers. The first episode's official TVF credits also list Baishali Sinha, Abhishek Jha, Mihir Rajda and other supporting actors.

Hemant Mishra created the story and wrote the first episode, while Prakhar Sharma and Saksham Arora were credited as directors. Vijay Koshy served as producer and Vaibhav Bundhoo as co-producer.

That first-party credit information is worth establishing because Season 2 announcements have so far focused primarily on the show's return rather than providing a complete new-season production roster.

The 20-million-view milestone explains why Season 2 matters

The strongest context for the renewal actually came before it.

In a public update about the series, TVF said Family Kirana Store had accumulated more than 20 million views across platforms.

The company described the response as evidence that viewers were connecting with stories about relationships, running a small kirana shop and the everyday emotions of an Indian family.

TVF then made its longer-term intentions unusually clear: it said it planned to develop multiple seasons and continue expanding the Gupta family's world.

That changes how Season 2 should be understood.

This isn't simply a show that performed well and was unexpectedly renewed.

TVF had already identified Family Kirana Store as something it believed could sustain a longer life.

Season 2 is the first major test of that confidence.

The kirana shop is more than a backdrop

The setting is arguably the show's most important creative decision.

A neighbourhood kirana store is simultaneously a workplace, family business and social space.

Customers come and go. Money creates everyday tensions. Family members have to divide responsibilities. Regular customers become familiar faces. Small mistakes can quickly become household problems.

That gives the writers a storytelling engine that can keep producing situations without requiring the series to abandon its grounded tone.

Episode 1 demonstrates the formula neatly: a counterfeit note becomes the starting point for the story.

It's a tiny problem by conventional television standards.

Inside a small family-run business, it can become an entire episode.

That scale is precisely what gives the show its identity.

Family Kirana Store is also branded entertainment

There is another important part of the series that shouldn't be overlooked.

Family Kirana Store was created in association with Maruti Suzuki Super Carry.

TVF's official uploads identify the two as presenting the series together, and the production credits include dedicated brand-partnership and brand-solutions teams.

TVF later publicly thanked Maruti Suzuki Super Carry for participating in the project in a way it said complemented the story.

That makes Family Kirana Store part of another significant strand of TVF's business: long-form branded storytelling.

Instead of interrupting a conventional series with an advertisement, the commercial partner is integrated into the larger fictional environment.

TVF has experimented with this model elsewhere too. Its official communication around Very Parivarik Season 2, for example, openly discussed how Hyundai's CRETA Electric was integrated into the story while the series expanded its fictional world.

For Family Kirana Store, the renewal therefore suggests that branded entertainment doesn't necessarily have to remain a disposable one-season campaign.

If audiences connect with the characters independently of the brand integration, the property itself can continue growing.

Why TVF keeps returning to ordinary Indian families

There is also an obvious creative lineage behind the show.

TVF has repeatedly found success by treating seemingly uneventful Indian spaces as places worth building entire series around.

A village panchayat can become a continuing character universe.

A middle-class household can sustain seasons of Gullak.

Competitive-exam preparation can support the emotional world of Kota Factory.

Family Kirana Store applies a similar instinct to a family business.

The comparison shouldn't be stretched into claiming that the new series has already achieved the cultural reach of TVF's biggest franchises. It hasn't had enough time to establish that.

But the storytelling philosophy is recognisable.

Instead of asking what extraordinary event can happen to ordinary people, TVF frequently asks whether ordinary life itself contains enough material.

The kirana store gives it another answer.

Season 2 now has a bigger challenge

Renewal also creates a creative problem.

The first season could rely heavily on discovery. Viewers were meeting Gajanand, his family and their shop for the first time.

Season 2 doesn't have that advantage.

Once the environment becomes familiar, the writers need to deepen the relationships or introduce new pressures without making the series feel artificially bigger simply because it has returned.

That is where TVF's earlier statement about “expanding the world and stories of the Gupta family” becomes particularly interesting.

Expansion doesn't necessarily need to mean a larger production.

For this show, it could simply mean learning more about the customers, neighbourhood, family history or economics surrounding the shop.

The smaller that expansion feels, the more naturally it may fit the series.

What is confirmed about Season 2?

At this stage, the confirmed/reliably reported picture remains relatively simple.

Season 2 has been announced, the story will continue around Gajanand and his family, and the new instalment is expected to remain a YouTube series. Shrikant Verma, Garima Vikrant Singh and Hemant Mishra have been named in coverage of the returning show.

Reports accompanying the August 7 announcement said filming would begin the following week.

What has not been established through the primary material I found is equally important.

A Season 2 premiere date has not been announced in the material reviewed for this report. Nor did I find an official Season 2 episode count, complete returning cast list, trailer or detailed plot synopsis.

Those details should therefore not be invented from the structure of Season 1.

The Celebrity Hour Take

The most interesting thing about Family Kirana Store Season 2 isn't that TVF renewed another family show.

It's how quickly TVF recognised that something extremely ordinary could become repeatable entertainment.

There is almost nothing traditionally glamorous about a kirana store. That's exactly why the setting works.

For millions of Indians, these shops aren't merely retail spaces. The shopkeeper knows the family. Credit can be personal. Customers become regular characters. Deliveries, bargaining, neighbourhood gossip and household finances overlap constantly.

TVF doesn't need to manufacture an elaborate universe around that environment.

The universe already exists.

The bigger strategic question is whether Family Kirana Store can move from being a successful branded YouTube series into a durable TVF property with an identity strong enough to survive multiple seasons.

TVF's own earlier statement makes clear that it sees that possibility.

Season 1 proved viewers would enter the shop.

Season 2 now has to give them a reason to keep coming back.

Sources & Verification

The Celebrity Hour reviewed TVF's official Family Kirana Store trailer and Episode 1 upload to verify the February 2026 launch, principal cast, creators, production credits and Maruti Suzuki Super Carry association. TVF's own corporate communication was used to verify its claim that the series crossed 20 million views across platforms and that it intended to develop multiple seasons.
