The important distinction is that the ₹50 crore figure refers to the film’s worldwide gross, not its India net collection.

According to figures attributed to box-office tracker Sacnilk by multiple publications on Sunday, August 23, Irumudi earned around ₹16.1–₹16.2 crore net in India on Saturday, taking its estimated two-day India net total to approximately ₹31.4–₹31.5 crore. Its India gross was reported at roughly ₹36.5 crore, while worldwide estimates placed the two-day total between ₹46 crore and ₹47 crore.

That leaves the film only a few crores short of the ₹50 crore worldwide milestone as it heads into its first Sunday.

Irumudi Box Office Day 2: The Numbers

Irumudi opened in theatres on Friday, August 21.

Sacnilk-based reporting initially put its first-day India net collection at around ₹15.3 crore. Saturday then brought an estimated ₹16.1–₹16.2 crore net, representing growth of roughly 5–6% over opening day.

The two-day picture, based on currently available estimates, is:

For that reason, describing Irumudi as “nearing ₹50 crore worldwide” is more defensible than assigning one definitive two-day global figure.

Telugu Version Is Driving the Collection

The overwhelming majority of Irumudi’s domestic business is coming from its Telugu version.

NDTV reported, citing Sacnilk, that approximately ₹31.34 crore of the film’s two-day India net collection came from Telugu screenings, while the Tamil version contributed only a small amount during the same period.

The film also posted strong reported occupancy in the Telugu market on Saturday.

That makes the opening especially relevant to Ravi Teja’s current career trajectory.

Rather than relying solely on his established “Mass Maharaja” image, Irumudi gives him a more emotionally driven role built around parenthood, faith and personal transformation.

Shiva Nirvana Had Warned Audiences to Expect a Serious Film

Ahead of release, Shiva Nirvana explicitly told audiences that Irumudi would not be a conventional light entertainer.

Speaking at the pre-release event, he described the film as an intense and serious family drama and highlighted its emotional final stretch.

The trailer had already signalled that shift.

Is Irumudi Ravi Teja’s Biggest Solo Opening?

Some early reports have described Irumudi as Ravi Teja’s biggest solo opening.

The Indian Express and other entertainment publications have used that formulation while discussing its first two days.

However, historical box-office comparisons across Ravi Teja’s films are complicated by inconsistencies between India net, distributor share and worldwide gross reporting.

Accordingly, The Celebrity Hour would recommend treating the “career biggest” label as an industry/trade assessment unless a like-for-like comparison from a reliable tracking source is supplied.
