‘I Stand With Sunita’: Kashmera Shah Responds to Govinda Marriage Controversy

Kashmera Shah has publicly backed Sunita Ahuja amid the renewed scrutiny surrounding her marriage to Govinda, saying she believes there must be a reason for Sunita to speak out now.

Speaking to photographers outside actor Abhishek Kumar’s birthday celebration in Mumbai, Kashmera made it clear that her support was with the women in her family. Her intervention is particularly notable because she and Sunita only recently ended a long-running family feud.

However, Kashmera did not claim to have witnessed any alleged affair or provide independent evidence supporting Sunita’s accusations. Her comments should therefore be understood as a statement of family solidarity not confirmation of the allegations being exchanged publicly.

When photographers questioned her about the dispute, Kashmera initially asked why the family was not being left alone. She then explained where she stood.

“Woh meri family hai aur main apni family ko protect karungi. Main apni family ki auraton ke saath khadi hoon,” she said, adding that people should understand she was standing with Sunita.

Kashmera also questioned why Sunita would begin raising objections publicly after previously remaining relatively restrained.

“Aaj tak unhone kabhi awaaz uthayi hai? Kabhi kaha hai ki yeh galat hai, woh galat hai? Aaj bol rahi hai na toh hoga kuch galat,” she said.

Translated, Kashmera’s position was that Sunita had not usually spoken this way before, and if she was doing so now, something must have gone wrong.

The remark reflects Kashmera’s assessment of the family situation. It does not independently establish what happened between Govinda and Sunita.

What has been confirmed about Govinda and Sunita’s dispute?

The confirmed legal development is that Sunita has withdrawn the divorce petition she previously filed against Govinda. His manager, Shashi Sinha, told ANI that she submitted the withdrawal petition at Mumbai’s Bandra Family Court in August 2026.

Sinha said the proceeding had continued for approximately two years before being withdrawn. Ending the case, however, has not ended the couple’s public disagreement.

During a recorded phone conversation with Rakhi Sawant, Sunita claimed that she withdrew the petition because Govinda and actor Komal Rani Swarnkar were allegedly planning to marry. That remains Sunita’s allegation.

Sinha categorically denied that Govinda was planning another marriage, saying, “Aisa kuch nahi hai aur nahi hoga. Koi doosri shaadi nahi ho rahi” there is nothing of the sort, and no second marriage is taking place.

No marriage record, court filing or statement from an authorised representative has been produced to substantiate the claim that Govinda and Swarnkar planned to marry.

Govinda warns against unverified personal-life claims

Govinda has also issued a public legal warning concerning material about his personal and family life. The notice cautioned media organisations, online platforms, creators and social-media users against circulating content described as false, defamatory, manipulated or unverified.

It also addressed the unauthorised use or alteration of his identity, photographs and voice through artificial intelligence. According to the published notice, the actor may pursue civil and criminal remedies and seek damages of up to ₹100 crore in cases he considers defamatory or unlawful.

The warning is not itself proof that every allegation about Govinda is false. It is a formal declaration of his position and of the legal action he may consider against unverified content.

Kashmera and Sunita recently ended a 14-year rift

Kashmera’s decision to support Sunita carries additional weight because the two women were estranged for years.

The wider disagreement involving Govinda, Sunita, Krushna Abhishek and Kashmera had repeatedly surfaced in interviews and television appearances. Their relationship eventually improved during an emotional reunion on Laughter Chefs.

Sunita later spoke about the reconciliation while appearing on Lock Upp Season 2. She said she had patched up with Krushna after approximately 14 or 15 years and described Kashmera apologising to her during the reunion. Sunita also referred to Kashmera as a “sweet girl” while recounting the moment.

Kashmera’s latest statement therefore represents more than another celebrity reaction. It indicates that the repaired relationship has developed into public support during a difficult period for Sunita.
