Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Gunmaaster G9’ Teaser Unveils a Violent Love Story; November Release Locked

Emraan Hashmi is returning to the combination of romance, danger and music closely associated with an important phase of his career but on a considerably more action-heavy scale. The first teaser for Gunmaaster G9 introduces an intensely romantic protagonist willing to survive extreme violence to reach the woman he loves.

Directed by Aditya Datt, the action-musical also stars Genelia Deshmukh and Aparshakti Khurana. Himesh Reshammiya has composed the music, reuniting with Hashmi and Datt more than two decades after Aashiq Banaya Aapne.

Is ‘Gunmaaster G9’ Connected to Mithun Chakraborty’s G9?

The title inevitably recalls Gunmaster G9, the codename used by Mithun Chakraborty’s secret-agent character in the films Surakksha and Wardat.

However, the current producers have not officially identified Gunmaaster G9 as a remake, reboot, sequel or licensed continuation of those films. No confirmed material released so far establishes that Emraan is playing the same character.

It is therefore safer to describe the title as reminiscent of the earlier G-9 screen identity not to present the new film as part of that franchise.
