"From Sakina to Sakina 2.0? Ameesha Patel Reacts to Preity Zinta's Gadar Comparisons with Pure Class"

If there’s one Bollywood pairing that is forever etched into our cinematic hearts, it’s Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel as the unforgettable Tara Singh and Sakina. Their magic in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (and its massive 2023 sequel) defined an era. So, it's no surprise that when Sunny Deol takes on another partition-era drama, fans are going to draw comparisons.

Enter: Batwara 1947. The highly anticipated Aamir Khan production stars Sunny Deol alongside the ever-gorgeous Preity Zinta, and its newly dropped trailer has the internet buzzing. But what happens when the legacy of Sakina meets the promise of a new leading lady? Ameesha Patel just showed us all how it’s done!

During a recent #AskAmy session on X (formerly Twitter), a die-hard Gadar fan brought up the Batwara 1947 trailer. The fan didn't hold back, writing, "Have you watched the Batwara trailer? It feels like Preity Zinta is trying very hard to copy your iconic Sakina. But some characters are simply unforgettable. And no one can recreate the magic you and Sunny sir gave us in Gadar."

Now, in the world of showbiz, comparisons like this can sometimes stir up unnecessary drama. But our OG Sakina handled it with pure class and a touch of cheeky humor!

Ameesha responded to the fan with the sweetest message: "Woh bhi bahut Khoobsurat hai bhai ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻 Sakina wishes her the best." (She is also very beautiful, brother. Sakina wishes her the best).

But she didn't stop there. Ameesha added a playful, in character quip that had us grinning from ear to ear: "Tara ka dhyaan rakhna till he's not back to where he belongs 😝😝😝😝😁👌👌." (Take care of Tara until he returns to where he belongs).

How iconic is that? Instead of feeding into the rivalry, Ameesha uplifted her fellow actress while keeping the spirit of Sakina and Tara Singh alive. It’s exactly the kind of positivity we love to see on our timelines!

For those who need a quick catch-up, Batwara 1947 is gearing up to be a cinematic spectacle. Releasing this Independence Day weekend on August 14, 2026, the film boasts a stellar cast including Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and Sunny’s son Karan Deol, with a special appearance by Ali Fazal.

While we can't wait to see Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta recreate their 90s magic on the big screen, Ameesha’s classy tweet is a beautiful reminder that there’s enough room for everyone to shine in Bollywood.

What do you guys think of Ameesha’s response? Are you excited to see Preity Zinta in a fierce partition-era role in Batwara 1947? Drop your thoughts in the comments below, and keep it locked to The Celebrity Hour for all your daily entertainment gossip!
