Bigg Boss Expands Across Six Languages in 2026; Salman, Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi Lead Host Line-Up

Bigg Boss is preparing for its biggest multi-language push yet, with JioStar bringing together new editions of the reality franchise across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Bangla during the 2026 festive season.

The host line-up itself reads like a cross-section of Indian entertainment: Salman Khan returns for Hindi, Vijay Sethupathi for Tamil, Nagarjuna for Telugu, Kichcha Sudeep for Kannada and Mohanlal for Malayalam, while former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly joins the franchise as host of the Bangla edition. JioStar formally announced the six-edition strategy in July.

There is, however, an important correction to the circulating claim that all these editions will launch on September 6, 2026.

September 6 is officially established for Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20, and Malayalam promotional material has also announced that date for Mohanlal’s eighth season. Bigg Boss Kannada 13 has subsequently been announced for September 6 as well. But the latest reliable material reviewed by The Celebrity Hour does not establish September 6 as the formally announced premiere date for every one of JioStar’s six editions.

Most notably, Bigg Boss Bangla is actually launching earlier, on August 30, according to JioStar itself.

That makes the larger story more interesting than a simple same-day premiere: JioStar is coordinating the franchise across India around one concentrated festive-season window, but the rollout is not literally identical in timing across every language.

Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 20 Is Confirmed for September 6

The clearest date announcement concerns the Hindi edition.

JioHotstar and COLORS unveiled a promo for Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20 confirming a September 6, 2026 premiere, with Salman Khan returning for the milestone season.

The new season is also being positioned around a fresh gameplay device called “Extra Jeevan Daan.” In the promotional material, Salman suggested that it would alter not just individual twists but the way contestants approach the game itself.

For the Hindi edition, therefore, both the host and September 6 date are firmly supported.

Mohanlal’s Malayalam Season 8 Also Targets September 6

Mohanlal is returning for Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8, with the new season accompanied by the Agnipareeksha commoner-selection initiative.

An Asianet promotional campaign had already placed Mohanlal at the centre of the eighth season, including material explaining how aspiring commoner contestants could compete for entry into the main show.

A subsequent launch promo announced September 6, 2026 as the grand-launch date for the Malayalam edition, with Asianet and JioHotstar carrying the season.

That makes Salman and Mohanlal two hosts whose September 6 launches are currently supported by explicit promotional announcements.

Kichcha Sudeep’s Kannada Edition Joins the September 6 Cluster

Bigg Boss Kannada Season 13 is also now set for September 6.

Recent Kannada promotional coverage says the makers released a new promo confirming a 7 pm grand premiere on September 6, with Kichcha Sudeep returning as host.

Earlier in August, the date had not yet been formally disclosed even though Colors Kannada had begun its promotional campaign.

The newer announcement therefore strengthens the idea that September 6 will be a particularly important day for the franchise just not a universal six-edition premiere date.

Vijay Sethupathi Is Returning for Bigg Boss Tamil 10

Vijay Sethupathi is attached to the Tamil edition as JioStar prepares Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10.

Ahead of the main season, the franchise launched Bigg Boss Tamil 10: The Common Man, a pre-show designed to give non-celebrity participants a route into the main house. The programme began on August 16, with former contestant Maya S. Krishnan hosting the selection phase.

The same material confirms Vijay Sethupathi’s return for the principal season.

What is less certain is the exact main-show premiere date. September 6 has been widely reported and is consistent with the broader JioStar rollout, but the sources reviewed for this report still described that date as expected rather than officially announced for Tamil.

It should therefore not yet be presented with the same certainty as Hindi, Malayalam or Kannada.

Nagarjuna Returns for Bigg Boss Telugu 10

The Telugu edition is also entering a milestone year with Season 10 and Nagarjuna returning as host.

A promotional campaign has already been released featuring Nagarjuna and promising “10X” surprises, drama and challenges for the anniversary edition.

Like Tamil, however, the precise September 6 premiere date has been reported more widely than it has been officially announced.

Coverage of the Telugu pre-launch Agnipariksha process explicitly noted that September 6 was circulating as the expected date but had not yet been formally announced by Star Maa at that stage.

Until Star Maa or JioStar publishes a definitive premiere card, September 6 should remain attributed as a reported or expected date for the Telugu edition.

Sourav Ganguly’s Bigg Boss Bangla Actually Starts August 30

The Bangla edition is where the “all six on September 6” claim clearly breaks down.

JioStar officially announced that Bigg Boss Bangla will premiere on August 30, 2026, on Star Jalsha and JioHotstar, with Sourav Ganguly taking over as host.

The Bangla revival is significant in its own right.

Banijay announced in March that the Bengali version was returning after roughly a decade away, with Ganguly confirmed as host and EndemolShine India producing it for Star Jalsha.

So while Ganguly belongs to JioStar’s larger six-language Bigg Boss strategy, his season actually begins before the major September cluster.

Why JioStar Is Treating 2026 Differently

JioStar’s July announcement explains the commercial logic behind the strategy.

The company said the Bigg Boss franchise reached more than 500 million viewers in 2025 and generated over 438 billion viewing minutes across its language editions. It also reported 47% year-on-year growth in engagement.

According to JioStar, the franchise reaches more than 200 million viewers in Hindi-speaking markets and over 300 million viewers in southern India. The company also highlighted billions of votes, tens of millions of live-chat interactions and extensive engagement with the 24×7 live feeds on JioHotstar.

The 2026 strategy therefore appears to be less about synchronising every first episode to one clock and more about concentrating several of JioStar’s biggest reality properties into the same festive programming window.

The Host Line-Up Spans Film, Television and Cricket

JioStar’s official six-edition announcement names the following line-up:

• Hindi — Salman Khan

• Tamil — Vijay Sethupathi

• Telugu — Nagarjuna

• Kannada — Kichcha Sudeep

• Malayalam — Mohanlal

• Bangla — Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly is the notable newcomer.

JioStar first announced his participation at Eden Gardens in March, presenting his appointment as a major part of the Bangla edition’s return.

The other hosts have established associations with their respective editions, giving the network recognisable local faces while distributing the franchise across very different television markets.

The real milestone is not that Salman Khan, Mohanlal and Vijay Sethupathi will all appear on Bigg Boss on exactly the same night.

It is that JioStar is treating Bigg Boss as one national entertainment franchise with multiple strong regional identities, rather than as a Hindi reality show surrounded by separate adaptations.

That distinction matters.

The company now has Salman in the Hindi market, five major regional personalities across South India and Bengal, one streaming destination in JioHotstar, and a concentrated launch strategy built around the festive advertising season.

The scheduling also shows why individual dates need to be checked carefully. JioStar originally described the six-edition rollout as beginning in September, but Bangla has since been fixed for August 30, while Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada are converging on September 6. Tamil and Telugu are widely expected around the same window, but the exact dates deserve first-party confirmation.

For readers, the biggest Bigg Boss development of 2026 is therefore the scale and coordination of the franchise, not a still-unverified claim that all six doors will open simultaneously on September 6.
