Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti Set to Return as Asur Season 3 Moves into Production

Principal photography for Asur Season 3 has officially commenced in Mumbai, marking the return of one of Indian streaming’s most critically acclaimed psychological crime thrillers. Lead actors Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti are reprising their fan-favourite roles as forensic experts Dhananjay "DJ" Rajput and Nikhil Nair, while the series undergoes a significant creative transition behind the camera.  

Creator and lead writer Gaurav Shukla is stepping into the director's chair for the third installment, making his directorial debut. Shukla will co-direct the season alongside ad filmmaker Shwetabh Varma. Oni Sen, who helmed the first two seasons, is not returning as director due to scheduling commitments on other projects, including Netflix India’s war drama Operation Safed Sagar.

Filming for Asur Season 3 began on August 30, 2026, in Mumbai. Production is scheduled to run through December 2026, with the team set to film across multiple Indian cities over the three-month schedule to accommodate an expanded narrative scope.
